Shoe Review: Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit

Let me tell you right off the bat…these shoes have the most flexible soles of any that I’ve tried. And by flexible, I mean it bends, squeezes, squishes, and moves in all directions with ease. For a fairly thickly padded shoe, this auxetic sole design that Nike invented is super effective. I feel that only VFFs can move in a similar manner. When I first saw the preview for these shoes, I got really excited and hoped that they would be good or better than the Lunarepics. For one thing, Nike is advertising a 4 mm heel drop (20/16 mm) and while I realize that heel drop may not necessarily be such a big factor anymore, I do find that it makes a big difference to me. Additionally, the Lunarepics are on a 28/18 mm high platform, which I find is a touch too thick no matter how comfortable I feel in them. This Flyknit thing…it can be pretty and it can be pretty ugly. Take the Lunarepics, for example, I really like how they look, especially the Gyakousou colourway. On the other hand, they have made some stinkers in the past with the Kobe 9 Elite and Free 3.0.I understand that beauty is in the eye of the blah blah blah but in this case, I don’t think anyone will disagree that the RN Motion is pretty dull and unassuming. The knit and design is laid out in a straightforward and simplistic manner. The Flyknit is ribbed providing it with a bot more texture without sacrificing its inherent sock-like quality. It feels thinner than what they used for the Lunarepic.Inside, there is no tongue or any kind of a removable insole so what you see is what you get. The laces are a bit redundant but I suspect they will come in handy during faster paces to prevent slippage.Nike refrained from embedding any kind of fancy designs or patterning into the knit other than straight lines originating from the base of the shoe towards its laces.

2017 Nike FREE Running Shoes Get Rebooted

For 2016, the buy nike free shoes line-up is all new. Last year there were three Nike FREE models: FREE 3.0 Flyknit (MSRP $140), FREE 4.0 Flyknit (MSRP $120) and FREE 5.0 (MSRP $100). This year there are four models: FREE RN Motion (MSRP $150), FREE RN Flyknit (MSRP $130), FREE RN (MSRP $100) and FREE RN Distance (MSRP $120).

You may have noticed each 2016 FREE shoe has RN in the model name and it doesn’t mean registered nurse. RN is an abbreviation for run, and is used to distinguish the FREE running models from FREE fitness training models. In addition to RN being added to the model name, a major update to the FREE RN line is the inclusion of a Lunar core foam. The use of the Lunar core foam does not significantly change how the FREE RN models feel compared to their predecessors, but the new models are just a touch softer. The one exception is the FREE RN Distance, where the Lunar core foam delivers a noticeably softer ride than any other FREE models, past or present.
Another big change with the FREE RN line is how the sole of the shoe functions. The FREE RN Motion gets a stand alone design, and it is the most flexible and expansive platform of the FREE RN shoes. The foot lengthens and widens during ground contact and the FREE RN Motion platform is designed to work with this movement to the greatest degree. In this respect, the FREE RN Motion is the most “FREE” shoe in the line-up and is the closest to barefoot. Thus, it replaces the 3.0 Flyknit in an evolutionary manner. And like the 3.0 Flyknit, the FREE RN Motion has a 4mm heel-toe offset and a Flyknit upper.

The FREE RN Flyknit and FREE RN have a platform which is designed to have greater expansion than the 2015 FREE shoes, but is not as expansive as the FREE RN Motion. The FREE RN Flyknit and FREE RN replace the Mens Nike Free 3.0 V3 and FREE 5.0, respectively. However, the 4.0 had a 6mm offset and the 5.0 had an 8mm offset. Both the FREE RN Flyknit and FREE RN have 8mm offsets. In fact, they have the same platform. The difference between the two shoes is the upper. The Flyknit is more sock-like and allows for greater freedom of movement compared to the engineered mesh upper of the FREE RN. Additionally, the Flyknit upper results in greater toe spring, making the shoe feel more dynamic than the regular FREE RN.

The FREE RN Distance is a stand alone shoe within the FREE arena. It not only has a Lunar core foam, it also has an accordion-like midsole design similar to the LunaRacer and LunarTempo. This design contributes to the soft underfoot feel of the FREE RN Distance. Another distinction with the FREE RN Distance among the new FREE RN shoes is the flexibility cut pattern of the midsole/outsole. The pattern is similar to the FREE 5.0 pattern, but is more filled in. So, in contrast to the other FREE RN shoes, which got more expansive, the FREE RN Distance is less expansive than previous free models. As such, the FREE RN Distance is a bit more similar to other Nike running shoes and is a little less “FREE-like”.

First run: Nike Free 5.0 review

Nike’s new nike free shoes range has been around for some time now offering runners a more flexible, less padded experience to the company’s Lunar Glide series.

For 2014 the shoe range has broken out into three models, as well as been given a major makeover to suit a range of runners from professional athletes to casual 5km exercise hounds. Our test pair were bright, almost radioactive orange, and while that has nothing to do with the overall performance, we mention it because a) it is such a bright and cool colour, and b) we’ve seen people actively turn their heads to gawp in awe as we’ve run past and that has urged us to go faster. The previous Nike Free shoes featured a linear flex groove system that give you plenty of flexibility but only in one direction – i.e. front to back. The new shoes now feature a hexagonal design – it reminds us of the Reebok hexagonal air pockets from the early 90s – and the idea is that the show can now flex in all directions to give you more support, or as Nike says “enable the runner’s foot to move more freely in all directions”Although more pronounced on the Mens Nike Free 5.0 V4 and 4.0 shoes the Free 5.0 features a more rounded curved heel rather than the flatter square back we’ve seen before. That should give those still heel striking a more rounded experience and one that actually looks like your heal rather than a big clunky shoe. We’re mid-foot runners here at Pocket-lint so didn’t really notice much of a difference to be honest. The Nike Free 5.0 don’t come with the Flyknit upper than you’ll find on the Nike Free 3.0 and Nike Free 4.0 models, however you do get a Flywire-reinforced knit mesh upper than provides good venation and a great fit.

There’s no-sewn overlays at all on the upper which makes for a minimalist design and one that is itch free. Additionally the inclusion of a traditional tongue construction, which is soft, helps cushion lace pressure. The tongue is very thin so as not to restrict space within the shoe.

Why sneakerheads and techies are freaking out about the Nike HyperAdapt shoes

Here are the basics you need to know about the shoes and why they’ve got sneakerheads and technophiles so pumped.

First things first, do the Nike Free Run Sale actually tie themselves?

Well, not exactly. The shoe’s laces are not like those traditionally found on athletic shoes, which crisscross along the top of the foot and then tie in a bow. Instead, there is a small motor at the base of the shoe that controls nylon bands along the top. Those bands can be loosened or tightened electronically using buttons and sensors built into the shoe.

“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” Tiffany Beers, a senior innovator at Nike, said in a news release. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”buy nike free shoes

Where did this idea come from?

The wonders of Hollywood. The Nike HyperAdapt is based on the high-top “Nike Mag” sneakers that Marty McFly sports in “Back To The Future Part II,” which was released in 1989 and set in the year 2015. Nike’s shoe design king Tinker Hatfield was actually tapped to dream up the concept for McFly’s footwear. (No word yet on why Nike needed an extra year, but predicting the future has never been an exact science.) Wired has the full backstory in its October 2016 issue.

How long did the shoes take to develop?

One could argue that development began in the late 1980s when Hatfield first conceived of McFly’s futuristic sneakers. In reality, development has taken about 11 years. In the Wired profile, Hatfield explains the project has had many false starts and misfires as it was developed in a secluded, bunkerlike research lab on Nike’s campus in Beaverton, Ore. Over the years, the company had to contend with the bulky size and capacity limitations of motors and batteries, as well as the challenge of adding the technology without compromising the sleek and functional design athletes expect.

Nike Says New Shoe Might Lead To Sub-2 Minute Mile

Winning a marathon is a dream for runners and if that achievement below two hours will be a world record. The existing world record for marathon is two hours, two minutes and 57 seconds set by Dennis Kimetto of Kenya in 2014.

Nike unveiled a new concept shoes, Zoom Vaporfly Elite and assures that it would help athletes to break the record at just under two hours. The shoe maker has signed with world famous marathon runners Zersenay Tadese, Lelisa Desisa and Eliud Kipchoge to achieve sub-two-hour target. The company has been striving for a Breaking 2 initiative.

The news shoe will weigh around two ounces less than Nike’s Olympic sprinting shoe and would weigh around 198.45 grams or seven ounces. It will have an inch thick spongy sole and ultra thin carbon fiber plate that acts as a spring while free run sale

Nike Free 3.0 Review

A little while ago I reviewed the Adidas Adizero Adios and named them my favorite running shoe, well as fickle as this may sound, I’ve changed my mind.

While I still prefer the Adios for road racing and tempo runs, for all around comfort on easy to longish runs and for working on improving running technique, then the Nike Free 3.0 is now the shoe I reach for first out of an ever burgeoning and untidy pile of running footwear.

I’ve been no stranger to the Free 3.0 over a period of more than 12 months, from tentative exploratory and cautious 20 minute jogs, my use of this shoe (and I’m now on a second pair) has grown considerably in volume and variation.

At the top end I’ve run for 90 minutes or close to 20km, I even took them onto the track for a middling 5000m performance (I don’t blame the shoe). At the moment I’ve taken to wearing them for speed work (off the track), in fact I’m wearing them almost all the time! The only environment where they have struggled was in a 16km long cross country race on uneven grass, I developed a callousister that day – no that’s not your callous sister, it’s a blister that forms under a callous. Keep up with your foot maintenance regime to avoid this happening to you!

As I wrote about recently, the NB MT101 trail shoe has given me a good alternative to protect my feet against stone bruising on very rocky surfaces. However, the Free 3.0 also performs pretty well on rough ground, if you avoid the sharp stuff. There’s no glossing over the fact that they do collect a handful of gravel to throw into your landscaping after each run. I wonder if a future version of the Free could be developed with slightly shallower grooves to help avoid the intrusion and collection of my local government’s road surface?nike free sale

Nike created a brand-new running shoe to break a huge marathon record

Nike is breaking new ground with its “Breaking2″ initiative to help a group of three runners complete a full marathon in under two hours for the first time in history.

To aid its chosen athletes, the sportswear giant has developed a brand-new running shoe called the Zoom Vaporfly Elite, which will be worn during the marathon attemptsIt uses tech called ZoomX, which refers to a new kind of midsole cushioning system. It’s designed to give runners more energy return during push-off while providing additional support for the long run.

This makes the Elite different from other racing shoes, as most models are very flat without much cushioning. The ZoomX foam is also softer, lighter, and more responsive than other foams.Other innovations in the Elite include a carbon fiber plate in the shoe that “minimizes energy loss at toe off, creating a smoother transition.”

The Elite is a concept shoe that won’t be for sale, but the shoe and its ZoomX tech will be adapted for the mass market as the Zoom Vaporfly 4%. That 4% refers to Nike’s claim that the technology allows runners to be that much more efficient in a marathon compared to its previous fastest marathon shoe. For runners looking for a more full-featured shoe, Nike is also making Nike Zoom Fly, a shoe durable enough for both racing and training, and the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 34, which is not for racing but offers balance between comfort and support. All three models will go on sale on June 8.
